How the clinic works

Bookings, results, phone messages, after hours care and the practice's policies.

Booking an appointment

Appointments can be booked in person, online through HotDoc, or by calling the clinic on (02) 4006 8222, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Regular appointments are 10 to 15 minutes. If you feel you need a longer appointment, please discuss this with reception when you book.

Same-day appointments are available on most days. We recommend booking in advance where possible, and walk-ins are welcome if an appointment is available at the time.

Results

A follow-up appointment is usually required to receive results. Telephone advice will only be given if authorised by your doctor. Morisset Doctors will attempt to contact you regarding any urgent results.

Telephone enquiries

Please leave a clear message with reception and your doctor will return your call when possible.

Communication and records

Interpreters, accessibility and how your information is sent and stored.

Interpreters and communication assistance

Please let reception know when you book if you need help with communication, such as a translator. A phone interpreter may be available but needs to be arranged before your appointment. Patients from non-English speaking backgrounds can contact TIS National (Translating and Interpreting Service) on 131 450 to book an interpreter.

Auslan interpreters

If you require an Auslan sign language interpreter during your appointment, a booking can be made online through NABS (National Auslan Booking Service) at nabs.org.au or by phoning 1800 246 945.

Correspondence

Electronic medical information is sent in an encrypted format using secure messaging software. Printed medical information is mailed through secure, tracked post. Diagnostic correspondence and results are always forwarded to the relevant doctor and marked confidential.

Email policy

The practice uses secure messaging through its clinical software, which sends a secure email with a PIN code. Please download any attachments and delete the email as soon as possible. Patient information is only sent by email when securely encrypted, and is not sent to personal email addresses. Patient enquiries and requests are not accepted by email.

If you request a copy of medical information, you will be asked for a fax number, a postal address for registered mail, or to collect it from the clinic.

Fax and computerised records

Fax machines, printers and other electronic devices are only accessible to doctors and authorised staff, and fax numbers are checked before confidential information is sent. Specific systems protect the privacy, security and integrity of patient records, all staff are trained in computer security, and IT support oversees the maintenance and security of the practice's systems.
